Benrahma is doing OK, slowly improving.

Not sure how anyone thinks the back two were superb when they let a player waltz into our box and have a shot unchallenged, that was fucking awful.

They were good for most of the game but were responsible for the goal.

The unpublished challenge on Benrahma wtf. Kicked him in the thigh to bring him down... How could that not be a foul?

Benrahma was livid when they equalised last night

I like that

He’s getting there - new team, new league, new system, new role. Not gonna fault his attitude though.

Re: ⚽ West Ham v WBA - Official Match Thread FT 2-1
Quite honestly I'm sure Moyes would rather replace Lanzini and Yarmolenko before replacing Benrahma. However, I suspect that the rumours Benrahma was a Sully special if correct, might have something to do with Moyes' attitude.

When Masuako is back in 6-8 weeks iirc, we'll see which gets picked first...

Re: ⚽ West Ham v WBA - Official Match Thread FT 2-1
The game is played at such a high level tactically now and with finer margins that if any player isn't doing his job properly it can give the other side a big advantage. Saw an interview with James Maddisson just today and he said you cannot carry even one player now as it could break the whole system down.

Yeah, didn’t word that properly

Should have put 'not playing him from the start for 90 minutes in every match in his preferred role'

Re: ⚽ West Ham v WBA - Official Match Thread FT 2-1
We are playing him? He's started the last few games, he hasn't taken his chance. Not sure why he should be treated any differently based on his Championship reputation.
He's a flair player, hence we have wool over our eyes....

Re: ⚽ West Ham v WBA - Official Match Thread FT 2-1
He did alright yesterday, maybe that thug launching him and getting away Scott free made him decide he was going to get more determined?

It doesn’t appear they trust him, much if at all. I just find it irritating we buy a player we don’t need and ruin his confidence by not playing him.

"Moyes has already pussy whipped him into abandoning much of the adventurous stuff, he’s not the same player that left Brentford."

We can't afford luxury players with a free role in this system so reality is he either becomes a more of an allrounder who can do the dirty work or he wont work our here. It's what Brendon Rogers asks of his flair players, including Maddison albeit he is a far better player.

Although in saying that, Benhrama's defensive work and pressing is actually where he's been decent, it's in the final third he's been lacking so not sure that is anything to do with what Moyes is asking him to do.

Maybe he's trying too hard. But the prem can easily break a player.

Benrahma looks so despondent when he's taken off, which I like to be honest.

Re: ⚽ West Ham v WBA - Official Match Thread FT 2-1
Maybe Moyes felt that the quality of the opposition meant he could field two attacking midfielders to break down a crowded defence?

He did it for Stockport as well.

I don’t mind having them both but would prefer Fornals for his work rate than Lanzini who has little or no end product. Benrahma needs a goal but from looking at his body language, Moyes has already pussy whipped him into abandoning much of the adventurous stuff, he’s not the same player that left Brentford.

Shame really.

In my opinion, for right now i would play Lanzini ahead of Benny and Yarm. He may not be the future but at present, he is the best technically of the 3.
Fornals cameo last night really shows what he brings to the team and is a starter. Lanzini will improve if he is a starter

Benrahma needs a goal then i think he will push on

Moyes clearly not wanting him cant be helping things though...

Re: ⚽ West Ham v WBA - Official Match Thread FT 2-1
Early days and the game's full of opinions, but Benrahma has been bang average since he joined. Yes he can hold on to the ball given he is skillfull, but his decision making, passing and physicality leaves a lot to be desired.
We should have gone out for Eze, her looks the real deal.

Lanzini has gone. The injury has killed him.

Manuel

Benny was good on the ball, was commiting players and trying to make things happen. Played part in first goal too. Just before the subs we were starting to get on top. Lanzini had one cleared off the line. Lanzini wasnt excellent, but thought his contribution was better than previous showings last night. He was taking the ball in tight areas well and moving it on. Unlucky not to get a goal. But yeah i think he is one youd look to upgrade in the summer

Forgot how tedious BFS’s post match interviews are. Summary of what happened in the match followed by if we did this, scored then etc. the result would have been different.

Re: ⚽ West Ham v WBA - Official Match Thread FT 2-1
Lanzini looks like either he can't be bothered or he's unfit, definitely lacking in confidence. Whatever it is the spark has gone and I wish we could get rid, Pablo is a far better option anyway these days.

As for Benrahma, at least he was trying to turn his opponent and put some work in, even if it mostly didn't come off. When it did, his cross to Coufal led to the first goal.

Agree the reaction from 1-1 was very good to see, very unlike the usual West Ham.

Can't agree with much else though, Lanzini and Benrahama were both good? Not for me. Yarmalenko was his usual shit, it's really nigh time he stopped coming on, he is meant to be an impact substitute? The fella is an accident waiting to happen, and AGAIN lost possession late on that nearly led to a WBA goal.

I don't think there is a decent football club in the world that would take either Lanzini or Yarm, we are stuck with 'em.

Re: ⚽ West Ham v WBA - Official Match Thread FT 2-1
Big big win, 6 points from last 2 is superb and makes our first half of the season very very good.

what pleased me last night was the reaction to going 1-1. We kicked on and got the goal and created chances again. Thought back 2 AGAIN were superb. Rice was a joy to watch and Coufal got forward well. Antonio was a beast up there, you realise how shit Haller was

Nice to see Moyes say theres more to come from this side, we've played alot of the big boys away so maybe we can have a run at the top 7

Only negative last night for me was taking Benrahma off early......thought he was good again, he clearly looked disappointed at being hauled off again Moyes just seems to be doing it to make a point? Lanzini i thought played well, the pair of them had just got on top again and then were hauled off. Yarmo did good for the assist but still a little slow at times. Fornals i thought didnt have much impact going forward as usual.

We have to get in 1 or 2 bodies now before deadline, we cant just have a decent 11 with 1 or 2 half decent subs attacking wise for rest of season
